M-1 Garand Stock Set (Walnut). This stock set was recieved on a CMP rack grade rifle several years ago and has a SA over NFR cartouche. This is the inspector stamp for Brig. General Norma F. Ramsey and according to Scott Duff's book would be correct on rifles with serial numbers 3,3xx,xxx to 3,889,xxx. The cartouche is readable but not deeply struck. It also has the small ordinance wheel stamp, but only about 50% is legible. The cartouches are original and nothing has been done to alter them (100% original). The stock comes with the front ferrule, the rear sling swivel, both of which came with this stock. It includes a very nice buttplate which has roughly 80% finish on it and has strong checkering and the upper and lower buttplate screws are new. This is not a prestine stock, it is old and had seen a lot of use. It has numerous dents and dings from years of service and I have loaded lots of pictures so you can see exactly what condition this is in. T is a slight amount of overhang, mainly in the toe area of the buttplate but no recever overhang (see pictures). Lock up with the reciever is marginal, it is okay with good locking lugs on the trigger housing but may not be the best if your locking lugs are worn. This is more a collectable than something I would take to the range. The front and rear handguards came with this stock. read more
