Up for auction is a mint unissued WWII TYPE net for the US M1 steel helmet. The net is made of OD cotton, with the net mesh measuring about 1/4 inch weave as issued by the US, in late 1944 (exactly like the one described in Reynosa's excellent book "the M1 Helmet"; see this book for details on this net including photos of soldiers at the Battle of the Bulge wearing them). In fact, this is the ONLY net the US ever produced; all the others were procured from allied countries. This particular type of net has a hexagonal shape (corners are cut, and cutouts exist on the side to facilitate its fit on an M1 helmet). An elastic band is tied to the net itself with cloth strips. No instruction tag with this net, it is lost to the ages. Makes any helmet look great! Just check out the photo of one on my own helmet! (Auction is for one net only, no helmet). Don’t know the exact age. I have done some research on this type net and COULD BE post war. Have a look at this website info. http://www.matshelmets.se/nets.html . Please view photographs carefully for details. $5.00 First class shipping in the US. International bidders welcome, international shipping to most countries is by weight. Payment must be received within three days of auction. I accept Paypal or?
