It was the first Apple Portable and came with 1 meg of RAM on the logic board with another two slots to add additional memory (See the jpegs of the slots. Note the sockets are not the same). One memory slot is marked "RAM" slot, the second is marked "PDS" or processor direct slot, which takes various cards including additional memory. The memory at auction here is from that 1989-1990 period and it is used not new. You can see it is RAM slot memory from its narrower plug.A Warning about Multiple Memory CardsPutting extra memory in both the RAM and PDS slots can be tricky inasmuch as not all memory is compatible when using both motherboard slots.
