Madame Alexander First Lady Doll Collection Series VI - "Bess Truman" (1435) Product Details: Brand: Madame Alexander Model: Bess Truman Item Number: 1435 Size: 13.5 inches Product Description: Vintage Madame Alexander's "Bess Truman" (1435) from the First Lady Doll Collection Series VI circa 1980s. Doll has beautiful platinum blonde hair and blue eyes and is dressed in a period style satin grey/green gown adorned with clear rhinestones on the neckline. She has white petticoats, nylon seamed stockings, satin slipper, and a beautiful string of pearls around her neck. She measures approximately 13.5" in height. Stand not included. Bess Wallace Truman came to the White House with her husband Harry. She was thoroughly schooled in Washington protocol since her husband had served two terms in the United States Senate and as Vice President. Attendees at official functions were impressed with her graciousness and charm. A major renovation of the White House took place during Truman's term and Blair House, across the street, became home to the First Family; the Truman's moved back to the White House in the spring of 1952. Condition: This Madame Alexander "Bess Truman" Doll is in excellent condition, in its original box with original tissue, hang tag, collector registration form, and Doll Club registration form. However, it does have a small scrape at the bottom of one shoe, the hang tag and original box do show signs of wear. Came from a smoke free home. I have taken many photos from different angles to show the condition of this wonderful piece. Doll will be shipped carefully boxed and bubble wrapped to ensure safe delivery to its destination.
