This is a beautiful English flow blue platter and an old one to boot. It has two marks on the back, a printed mark and an impressed mark. The printed mark gives the name of the pattern, Hindustan, and underneath the maker's name Maddock. The impressed mark is a castle inside a circle. Around the circle it reads Maddock Ironstone China. This is precisely mark 2461 in Godden's book of English marks. He states that this mark was used before 1855, so the platter is quite early indeed. It is 15.75 inches long and 12.25 inches wide. T are no chips or cracks, and the color is rich and deep as you can see in the picture. This plate is selling online now for 375.00. The reservese is extremely low.
