I'm currently listing a large number of playbills from out-of-town tryouts prior to the Broadway runs. Many are from early performances when revisions were common and include song titles that were cut before opening in New York. (See cut song below) ....... This is a January 1978 playbill from the Pre-Broadway tryout of the CY COLEMAN, BETTY COMDEN and ADOLPH GREEN musical comedy "ON THE TWENTIETH CENTURY" at the Colonial Theatre in Boston. (The production would open February 19th, 1978 at the St. James Theatre in New York City and run for 449 performances.) ..... The musical starred MADELINE KAHN, JOHN CULLUM (who would win the Tony Award for "Best Actor in a Musical") and IMOGENE COCA and featured GEORGE COE, DEAN DITTMAN, KEVIN KLINE (who would win the Tony Award for "Best Featured Actor in a Musical"), RUFUS SMITH, GEORGE LEE ANDREWS, TOM BATTEN, JUDY KAYE and WILLI BURKE .....
