A MAGNIFICENT ELLA HODGETT LINEN & HAND CROCHET TABLECLOTH WITH LILIES, CIRCA 1915 It is difficult to convey how magnificent this beautiful lily design hand sewn and crocheted linen tablecloth is, so I hope the many photographs will do it justice. Measuring approx 61" x 62" and with a heavy weight, this is the ultimate in hand crochet and must have taken many hours of patience and an extremely skilful hand to achieve such a wonderful cloth - truly one of the best I have ever had. The cloth is immaculate and possibly never used although I have laundered it and it is a snowy white colour. Not being knowledgeable about crochet designers but because of the exquisiteness of the work, I had thought this to be a Mary Card design, but have been contacted by a very kind Australian eBayer who tells me this is by the designer Ella Hodgett who designed the patterns for Leach's Home Needlework Series between 1915-20. This design was from Series 54. This tablecloth is a superb example and one which I cannot fault in any way and worthy of being passed on as an inherited piece. Please contact me if you have any queries which I can help with. The cloth will be posted fully insured in the UK by Special Delivery next day and by International Signed for if sent abroad. Please note I will invoice you within 24 hours of listing finish. If you are read more
