you are bidding on one fabulous majolica platter made by the samuel lear pottery, hanley england , the firm added majolica to t line in 1882 and went out of buisness in 1886 . they were known for the geometric shapes that were mixed with the florals. the starflower is not a common pattern, [ sunflower, pond lily and rope , lily of the valley,] .this is not only a very rare but beautiful piece. condition is excelent, t are a few hairlines [see photos] ,perfectly acceptable for this rare ,old platter. platter measures 12 7/8 " long and 10 1/8 " wide and has the diamond registration mark impressed in the reverse side of the platter, I can't make out the date letter but it falls between 1882-86.
