Up for auction is a small and finely woven Makah / Nootka Indian beargrass and cedar bark basket with a round lid. If you look at the woven cedar start at the base, this identifies it as actually being of Makah origin. The lid has a red sunburst design in the center. On the body of the basket is a large dark whale followed by a dark two-man canoe. The inner rim of the basket is made of the customary cedar bark and t are bands of darker cedar bark alternating with the lighter colored beargrass composing the basket itself. A very nice Northwest coast Makah Indian basket. Excellent weaving! The basket, as noted, is small and finely crafted, measuring 1¾" across and 1½" deep. This nice basket is in just pristine condition. The design is still fresh and unfaded, and t are no breaks, splits, or any damage. Its only possible exception is a slight lack of symmetry. See photos, as they give a true picture of the basket's condition. This authentic Makah Indian basket will make a terrific addition to someone's collection of vintage Northwest Coast Indian baskets. Additional Notes: I will be happy to provide discounted shipping for multiple items.
