Scarce Antique Book The title page reads: "1870 Manual of the Corporation of the City of New York. John Hardy, Clerk of the Common Council." Entered according to Act of Congress, in the year 1871. 9 1/2" long by 6 1/2" wide by 2" thick. 926 pages. It is a heavy book . It is missing the frontispiece fold-out maps, other fold-outs are present. It is inscribed on the front endpage : "New York City Mch 2nd 87. This Book was presented to E O Boyle by his friend John Gallager of the Foreign Letters dept N.Y.P.D." This is an old book of historical value. Includes prints, engravings & maps. Too many maps, prints & engravings than I can picture. Book Description : John Hardy, New York, 1871. Hardcover textured cloth on board with blind-stamped border design & gilt seal on the cover. It has gilt design & lettering on the spine as well. Book Condition : Good. The binding is tight & the interior is clean. It has wear at the extremities & exposed boards. It has wear at the back & tears at the spine (as pictured). This is the 1870 edition the "Manual of the Corporation of the City of New York" published by the New York City Common Council to be issued by John Hardy, clerk of the common council. The "Manuals of the Corporation" were directories of extensive historical and contemporary records of New York. It includes the early city charters
