This lot, A MARBLE CONSIGNMENT , consists of a 27/32" (22 mm) hand made "Quadruple Ribbon Core" (ca. 1850-1870) in Near Mint (8.4) condition with a few small to pinprick flakes and a small subsurface moon/reflection, as well as some light wear and pinpricking (examined, as always, under 20-power magnification with strong lighting). It has a single set of outer white strands spiraling around four narrow and closely spaced interior ribbons, one each of blue/white, pink/white, green/yellow, and pink/yellow; the entire design has a tight twist. The basal pontil is ground with faceting, a finishing technique associated with the earliest hand made glass marbles.
