~ Aurora Glass Art Artist - Bill Wollin ~ Contemporary Handmade Marble ~ Signiture Series for 2013 (... marbles that beg to be picked up and explored. Emily - AGA customer) ~ "Carnival " ~ The marble measures just over 1-5/16 inch at 1-21/64. Clear base glass and transparent encasing with a multitude of opaque colors, streaming, looped and spiraled around Rainbow Dichroic. I grew up in a small town of Wisconsin. Late July had us doing what all small boys do; exploring, fishing, playing games and sometimes just bored hot. Then like a fresh wind blowing leaves before a storm, posters suddenly appeared on the telephone poles and in the windows of stores proclaiming that the Carnival was coming to town. Parents knew something was up as chores that paid nickels and dimes were done, and done fast! All the chores we could do to earn some money before the weekend were done in short order. Good behavior, Yes Sir, Yes Ma’m. Don’t want to get grounded now! Soon, as if by magic, Friday morning the armory athletic field was full of rides and games. Tonight was it, and buddies would begin to meet and a couple of leaders would emerge. Talk of the scariest ride and dares were made. Little did my friends know that I was prone to motion sickness. Finally after much harassment I agreed to take on the Tilt-A-Whirl. (Kind of a wimpy ride) This ride didn’t look to bad, but just the same I made sure I chose the outside seat just in case. The first ride was nothing as my confidence grew, when it stopped. All shouted to do it again, and again we went. Three times we all shouted, faster! The young man running the ride really gave it to us, and I in turn gave all I had back. Everyone yelled stop!!!! and I disappeared like a quarter at the milk bottle ring toss. No Bekka and Ema, Grandpa has a bad back, I’ll just watch,… gasp! ... "I love to experiment with formations and color in the creation of the marble. My enjoyment in the finished marble is seeing the unique new world that results with the mixing of flame, glass, and a twist of the wrist.
