Large quartos (12.5 x 9.625 inches; 318 x 245 mm.). Various paginations; frontispieces (lithographs in the first four volumes, photographs in the other two), first two volumes with additional original lithographic plates; numerous reproductions in color and blank and white. Publisher's gray cloth, lettered in black; in the original dust jackets with lithographic prints. General light shelfwear, a few spine ends or corners softly bumped; minimal soiling; covers of Volume I foxed along the edges. Texts of first three volumes lightly tanned, particularly at the edges closer to the inner margin. Dust jackets with a few tiny nicks or scuffs; Volume V slightly rippled; very faint discoloration to the crown of the third volume; first volume price-clipped. Near fine.
