Almost certainly a school work sampler. Traditionally worked in black on a natural linen ground in band format with repeated alphabets in both upper and lower case letters with different border patterns between. At the bottom the last band has the sewers details MARGARET NEWHAM Aged 8 years, above this the date february (her spelling) 1829. The sampler retains its old frame measuring 27 x 30 cm; 10 5/8 x 11 7/8 inches. Condition good. No damage or stitch loss, very light discoloration age related.
