This is a historic Austrian silver coin which someone has made into an unusual brooch. It appears that the coin has been split in two and painstakingly cutout to reveal the interesting profile of Empress Maria Theresa and the herarldy of Austria. The Austrian Thaler has a rich history of being minted in several countries and in having been used in exotic world markets throughout the years. The width is 2 3/4 inches and the height is 1 3/4 inches. The overall weight is .5 ounce. The condition is excellent. There are no bends, breaks dents or other problems. A strong "C" clasp and wire pin have been mounted on the reverse. There are no signatures or maker's marks.
