Description: Artist: Marie Sandholt (1872-1942) well-listed Danish artist. Signed in monogram and dated 1912 About Marie Sandholt (1872-1942): Educated at the Royal Art academy in 1892. Pupil of Viggo Pedersen and Skamstrup from 1897-1899. Later attended Academy Colarossi in Paris from about 1900-1904. Sandholt was primarily a naturalistic artist, but was also known to use modern color compositions in her works. Sandholt worked on many different scenes like landscapes, portraits and still-life’s. Her portraits show a strong influence from Viggo Pedersen and contains a remarkable sense of intimacy and emotions. Sandholt has traveled all around Europe and often stayed and worked in European countries like: France, Paris: 1900-1904, 1910. Italy: 1900, 1903, 1923. London: 1911, 1927. Holland: 1910. Exhibitions: Charlottenborg: 1895-1943. The artists fall exhibition: 1904-1916. Gallery Winkel & Magnussen: 1907,1929. Gallery Ramme Larsen: 1936. Kunsthallen: 1943. Ref.
