This Oil on Canvas painting is an Original Wendell Thompson Perkins (b.1928 - d.1997) an American painter. He spent the bulk of his career living and painting in Maine on the coast with his studio and gallary located in Portland. His studio suffered a tragic fire and most of his artwork was not saved. He is well listed and t are many auction records available on and other sites. The painting is signed on the canvas and is titled on the reverse stretcher "ROPES - Bath, Maine". It is framed. The ROPES was Built at Bath, Maine in 1884 and had a very colorful career. A. G. ROPES History Rig - Ship, Tonnage - 2,460Built: Bath, Maine - 1884 Length - 258.2 ft, Beam -44.7 ft, Depth - 20ft.Home Port New York, N.Y. Official #106318, Signal Letters K.C.S.Q., Foundered Dec. 26, 1913 at Forker River, N.J.- Crew of 5 men all were lost. This is a NO Reserve Auction starting with a bid which is conservatively 1/9th of the painting value. The painting is in excellent condition with no repairs, cracking or other damage.
