lot of 7 volumes. Includes four-part set of Sotheby's catalogues for the Barbara Johnson Whaling Collection, sold between Dec. 1981 and Dec. 1983. Each with realized price sheet. All soft cover, 8.75 x 9.25 in., mostly black-&-white photographs with scattered color highlighted lots. Also included is the two-volume set, Brewington, M.V. and Dorothy, Kendall Whaling Museum Paintings & Prints. Sharon (MA): Kendall Whaling Museum, 1965 & 1969. 4to, with gilt lettering spine and front; paintings volume red cloth, prints volume blue cloth. Hundreds of illustrations of art related to whaling, including ships, whales, ports, native peoples encountered by whalers, and more. Both near mint with only slightly worn glassine dustwrappers. Grant, Gordon. Greasy Luck: a Whaling Sketch Book. New York: William Farquhar Payson, 1932. 4to, illustrated sailcloth boards, signed by author on half-title. Condition: "Greasy Luck" has ink stain on edge of pages, not affecting internal print; minor toning, and penciled name on ffep.
