Pleasecheck out my feedback and . (And please check out the other beautiful pots that I have on eBay.) You are bidding on a museum quality wood-fired pitcher by North Carolina master potter Mark Hewitt. (It was chosen by Mr. Hewitt for inclusion in a 2002 exhibition at Dai Ichi Arts Gallery in New York City.) Please note: The white patches in the photos are camera flash; they are not on the pitcher. DESCRIPTION: This world class pot exemplifies Mark Hewitt’s gift for pushing clay to its limits and creating dynamic work with dramatically proportioned parts. A wide bulbous belly transitions into a squeezed neck before opening into a beautifully flared mouth with a well sized pouring spout. A masterfully pulled handle completes the pot. The wood kiln imparted a dramatic array of light and dark brown hues to the pitcher – and one side boasts a fortuitous vertical river of molten ash drips. (Rich salt markings impart further textural depth to the piece.) There are also decorative incised concentric lines at the neck and impressed markings both beneath the rim and on the handle. The pitcher stands 9” tall and measures 6” at its widest. It is in pristine mint condition- no chips, cracks or repairs- and has the potter’s personal stamp on the bottom. This is a no reserve auction. ABOUT MARK HEWITT : Mark Hewitt was born in 1955 in read more
