’Buy it Now’ or ‘Best Offer’ – a super and very up to date guide for the prices of some of the very best ‘Decorative Arts from 1860’ sold at auction on 1 October 2014. This is the catalogue and prices realized for an excellent Sale at Bonhams Knightsbridge, London – with some very interesting and, in some cases, wuite spectacular results. A super selection of ceramics and a good range of items in other media - see what’s ‘hot’ and ‘not’in a Sale that included some more affordable items as well as the exotic!! The Sale had a very substantial 474 Lots and featured a very wide range of items from both the UK and Europe. It also included the second tranche of what was probably the very finest collection of bookends ever established. This astonishing Collection included examples by some of the great names of the Art Deco period. There was a very good selection of William Moorcroft and objects by the Martin Brothers, Doulton, Wedgwood Fairyland lustre, European ceramics, Arts and Crafts, Art Nouveau, Art Deco sculpture (including the Private Collection of bookends), Art Deco, Lalique, Contemporary Ceramics and Vintage Posters. Work by Liberty and Co and Arts and Crafts Copper work were both unusually well represented – and where else could you find a cat with a dog as decoration around its neck!!??
