Mary R Herrera Cochiti Pueblo Native American Pottery This sweet storyteller was hand made and painted by Mary Ramona Herrera. The mother is carrying 6 children. They are all very happy. It measures 5 1/4”h by 3”w by 3 1/4”l and is signed “Mary R Herrera” This is in prestine condition. There is no reserve! Mary was born in 1970 and is the maternal granddaughter of Laurencita and Nestor Herrera, the daughter of Mary Frances Herrera and the sister of Edwin and Dorothy Herrera. Mary is the daughter of deceased Cochiti potter Mary Frances Herrera. Mary Frances started making storytellers in the years after Helen Cordero invented the form at Cochiti in 1964. Mary learned the art from her mother and after her mother passed away around 1990, she continued and expand upon her mother's work.
