Maryland Brass Button Canfield Brothers & Co. ca. 1860 Maryland brass uniform button for officers made by Canfield Bros. & Co. of Baltimore, and stamped as such on the brass and copper backing. The loop shank is fixed (non-moveable) and is straight and solid.This button is in original condition, and has not been polished, restored, and was not “dug” or excavated. This button features the state seal eagle over a coat of arms with a fisherman and farmer. The condition is excellent, with minimal wear and an attractive patina, with minor darkening to lettering stamped on the backing. The button measures approximately 7/8 of an inch across.
