This is a real beast of an irish blackthorn rootball handled walking stick /shillelagh Weighing a rock solid and fully seasoned 1.1kg,with a massive rootball handle of a good 3" by 3" ,more than the fill of my hand ! 37" tall with a shank measuring a whopping unyielding 1.75" wide with a gradual taper to 1.25" and tipped with a very generous amount of yew wood, Good mature blackthorn is becoming increasingly difficult to source,due in the main to the continuous clearing of land to accomodate building development.
