Item Description and Bidding/ Shipping Cost and Policy/ Payment Instructions: One (1) Matchbox Lesney Pontiac Gran Pri x Sports Coupé 22 c2, bright red body variation. Stannard catalogue casting code 1 of 6. This model is in near mint condition. It was introduced in June, 1965 and was sold in this type (light or darker red) and a rare orange red variation (Mack). Stannard says body colour varies in shades which probably accounts for the alleged orange-red 'rarity'. There exist 6 distinct Stannard code types. This is a hard-to-find Stannard code 1 casting with bright red body, A type body casting with thin radiator ridge, NO interior bonnet studs, 1.5 mm door sills; A type roof WITHOUT window insert locating stud; A type plastic door 'springs'; A type base plain front and rear (NO patent number) without tow guide (bright red, A-A-A-A ). It is approximately 76 mm in overall length. Please carefully examine the high definition photos for the fine, nearly flawless original paintwork detail. Some minor paintwork detail has been invisibly restored. The window insert is clean and clear as new. The wheels show no wear. The black paintwork on the metal base is glossy. The tow hook is intact. There are no casting or mechanical defects. This Gran Prix will display as new. They are constructed of correct weight tag board . They are laser printed so they will be somewhat glossier than an original Lesney era box, which was printed with lithography. Restoration unnecessary. The paintwork is nearly perfect, clean, shiny and bright on all exterior surfaces (except for possibly the base, if painted). Original, virgin paintwork approaches 100% with the possible exception of any factory paint flaws, very minor storage (not impact) wear, and very limited paintwork detail restoration. Negligible rolling use of the wheels may be present. The model is mechanically perfect. All original appliques and accessories are present.EXC = Excellent.
