Up for auction is the hardcover fifth edition from 1960. The Manual for maintenance and repair covers the years 1945-1960 for both the Matchless 350cc and 500cc single cylinder G-80. The book was published in London by C. Arthur Pearson Limited and written by F.W. Neill, the Service Manager at AMC Ltd.All aspects of repair, mechanical, ignition and electrical lighting are covered. The photographs show the clear diagrams for most of the maintenance and repair. It is well used. I purchased it in 1962 and used it constantly to maintain my G 80. The pages have some oil stains and fingerprints but all is legible. No pages are missing or torn although the paper cover has a tear at the winged M logo left top. The book is 5" wide by 7.5" high x 9/16" thick. The pictures include a photo of my friend Jim Peschel on the bike in 1965. No helmets then.I have color corrected two of the photos and added them to the existing pictures.188 pages with 68 illustrations for transmission (complete exploded diagram of the A.M.C. gearbox and clutch assembly, foot changer assembly, valve spring assembly and valve guides, Amal Carburetter (sic), beautiful detailed drawings of all the mechanical systems.
