Extremely rare Mauser Oberndorf am Neckar made Pre-war walnut stock for the 8mm Standard Modell battle rifle, the forerunner of the K98k. Never refinished, this stock is in pristine condition considering its age. Some minor staining and a few shallow handling marks are all that stand in the way of me calling this mint. Please look at the photos and I think you'll readily agree. Virtually all of these guns had hard use in the war, by the SA, or went to places like China w they were literally used to death. Very few original pieces of wood survived in this condition, and you'll not likely see one again in ages. These rifles are also very rare and a must have for any serious Mauser collector as they represent the first step to the K98 from the Gewehr 98 under Nazi occupation (most were made in the 1934-1935 period, and the serial number on this one seems to indicate 1935). No offensive or prohibited marks. Just original serial number and some Oberndorf control stamps is all. Includes all original excellent condition matching metal pictured (bayonet lug, crossbolt, buttplate, front and rear bands, band springs, rear sling swivel). Good color matching handguard included, but the number doesn't match and it may even be off of a Gewehr 98. Shipping estimated $15-$20 CONUS, all others inquire.
