Antique American Silver Souvenir Figural Demitasse Spoon with applied gold pan finial and wire wrapping on the handle; made by Joseph Mayer & Bros. of Seattle WA, c.1895-1915. The gilt spade form bowl is engraved with a view of the "MARY McKINNEY MINE" located at "CRIPPLE CREEK COLO". In quite good condition overall with original brown coloring of the interior of the gold pan highlighted by the gilt "nuggets"; the bowl does have minor dings just to the left of the engraved mining building. Nice souvenir of the Colorado mining industry. Length 3 5/8" long. This handle model was shown in a 1906 Jos. P. Mayer & Bros.Catalog of which the relevant page is illustrated in Rainwater & Felger American Spoons Souvenir and Historical (Everybodys Press Inc., 1977) page 326.
