FULL SIZE GENUINE Naval General Service Medal GV clasp Persian Gulf 1909-1914 named 204330 S H Martyn Yeo Sig HMS Swiftsure With copy service record and 1WW Medal roll entry which records his 1914/15 Star, War & Victory Medals were sent to his widow. Sydney Herbert Martyn was born in East Molesley, Surrey 13 February 1884 a Machinist he entered the Royal Navy 17 May 1899 at Ganges as a Boy 2nd Class. Martyn joined Pembroke 13 August 1902 and HMS Eclipse 30 May 1901 where he was rated Signalman 13 February 1902 and Qualified Signalman 25 July 1902. Martyn joined Pembroke I 19 November 1904, HMS Venerable 1 August 1905 where he was advanced to Leading Signalman, he next joined 11 December 1907, HMS Charybdis 25 July 1908, Crescent 5 September 1908, HMS Bedford 28 September 1908, Tamar 22 March 1910, Crescent 1 April 1911, Pembroke I 22 June 1911 where he was advanced to Yeoman of Signals 5 September 1911, HMS Blenheim 20 February 1912, Pembroke I 25 February 1913, HMS Swiftsure 26 March 1913, Pembroke I 11 May 1916, Ganges 10 June 1916, Pembroke I 6 October 1916, HMS Blonde 18 May 1917, HMS Canada 31 May 1917 and finally Pembroke I 1 April 1919 from where he was discharged medically unfit 21 July 1919. Sydney Herbert Martyn died in Pancras, London in March 1922. Very Good (GVF) Condition
