Diademed bust left with sceptre. +CNV• •TRECX Rev. Short cross voided. +ÆGL•BIRIHTONGI North 790; Seaby 1159; SCBI Copenhagen 973-4 Almost EF, bright, slightly weak at centres, 1.14g ex. Lockdales sale 75 lot 422, November 15 th 2009 ex. Lockdales sale 63 lot 560 (November 18 th 2007) (‘well centred NEF rare’) Almost certainly from the ‘Cnut Hoard’ c.1993 – as stated in the Lockdales catalogue Aegelbriht minted at Ipswich in the three types of Cnut, as well as in the Fleur-de-Lys type of Harold I. With Lifinc, he was one of only two moneyers operating there in the Short Cross type.
