Original Medieval Illuminated Manuscript Book of Hours Leaf, Paris, c. 1420-30 Text: PSALM 2 "...The Lord hath said to me: Thou art my son, this day have I begotten thee. Ask of me, and I will give thee the Gentiles for thy inheritance, and the utmost parts of the earth for thy possession..." IM-10543: An original leaf from a medieval illuminated manuscript Book of Hours, with illuminations by a Master of the Boucicaut School. Fifteen lines of red-ruled, Latin text, written with dark brown ink in gothic book-hand script on animal vellum. This leaf measures 127 x 92 mm (5 x 3 11/16”). ONE TWO-LINE ILLUMINATED INITIAL IN BURNISHED GOLD ON BLUE AND PINK GROUND EXTENDING INTO THE MARGIN WITH A DELICATE RINCEAUX DESIGN IN BURNISHED GOLD, RED AND BLUE; ELEVEN ONE-LINE ILLUMINATED INITIALS ALTERNATING IN BLUE WITH DELICATE RED PENWORK AND BURNISHED GOLD WITH DELICATE BLUE PENWORK. This Book of Hours leaf was scribed in Northern France, Paris, c. 1420-30. This is an original, not a reproduction and its condition is excellent, as shown in the photos.
