A truly superb large Meissen porcelain centrepiece bowl, hand painted and richly encrusted with flowers and fonds it bears the typical crossed swords mark in underglaze blue, plus inscribed initials CG,presumably its maker which no doubt could be researched and numbers 22.The marks would point to a mid c19 date.It is a substantial piece measuring approximately 14 inches long by 10 wide and is 5.5 high.No doubt used as a highly decorative fruit bowl to grace an opulent table it is in good condition given its age and delicacy, but has had one of its handles restuck, which could be made perfect by expert restoration, some chips to some of the flowers and a firing fissure from new on the top edge, all of which are visible on the images. All of this could be invisibly restored by experts if so desired but I like its originality as it still presents magnificently. The photos don't do justice to the quality and large scale of this fine piece, it is a superb example by arguably the finest European maker, founded by Royalty in about 1710 and collected Worldwide ever since.Buyers from abroad, please ask for a postage quote.
