Merrythought R.M.S Titanic Teddy Bear - boxed limited edition, no. 1975/5000 A very important replica bear made by the foremost British teddy bear manufacturer. For many years the original was on display in the Ribchester Museum of Childhood, Lancashire, he was a survivor of the doomed ship Titanic which sank in 1912, sadly his owner, Gaspare Luigi Gatti, the restaurant manager on the ship did not. The bear, a German Gebruder Bing miniature ted was returned to Gatti's wife and son where he remained for some years, eventually ending up in the Museum on permanent exhibition. This larger replica was made to commemorate the 80th Anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic in 1992 by Merrythought. Faithful to the little bear he was made in short pile gold mohair, fully jointed with black boot button style eyes and a stitched nose. He comes complete with Merrythought labels to his back, certificate, luggage label and beautifully illustrated wardrobe style display box. In mint condition, a fantastic collectable. 23cm x 12.5cm (9" x 5") Sensible cash offers considered. Any questions, please ask.
