An original silver Commemorative Medal for the 1908 earthquake with hit Messina in Sicily in December 1908. The medal is in good condition with a good size length of the original silk ribbon. The ribbon is a bit worn & faded. The medal is un-named as issued. This medal was awarded to Officers & men of The Royal Navy, Royal Marines & Mercantile Marine who were involved in the relief operations. Men from the following ships received the medal: HMS Duncan, HMS Euralyus, HMS Exmouth, HMS Lancaster, HMS Minerva, HMS Sutlej, HMS Boxer & HMS Philomel Please see my other medal & badge sales which might be of interest
