Metropolitan museum of Art reproduction of an 18th century french gilt bronze "French Ormolu Frame". New, in its original gift box from the MMA shop, with the descriptive card, this is a wonderful item to give as a gift to a couple celebrating their wedding, anniversary or birth of a child or grandchild. It is a triple frame, total length 8.5" and 3.5" high (plus decorative bow on top of the middle frame). It is hinged so it can be arranged on a table or desk. T is green felt backing. Never used, in perfect condition. The card reads : Ormolu, from the French, referes to a type of gilt-bronze ornamentation, especially for furniture mounts and small decorative objects. This frame, with its robbon and lauren decoration, reflects the spare elegance achieved by artists of the period of Louis XVI (reigned 1774-1789). The Museum's frames are cast in pewter, gold plated and antiqued. Handle with care to avoid scratching and clean with a soft, dry cloth only - do not use abrasive cleansers.
