Set of 2 Talavera coffee mugs. One is yellow with blue and green dots and floral design. Second is cobalt blue with floral desing. Both measure 3 3/4 inches H x 3 inches Diameter. Standard Mug size Marked "Talavera, IA Corona Tiax. Mex." on bottom. Purchased in Mexico, never used. The name "Talavera" originates in the city of Talavera de la Reina Spain w the process originated in the 16th Century. Talavera porttery is a white glazed ceramic with hand painted designs also known as Majolica earthenware. Talavera came to Mexico when the Spanish settled in Puebla. Talavera is a product that has a usually rough surface and flaws like any handmade item. These slight imperfections add to the beauty and make each piece unique. The most popular Talavera comes form Puebla, Dolores Hidalgo, and Guanajuato Mexico.
