Signed Michael Stoffa(c1923-2001) Oil on Canvas14.5" x 12.5" framed (painting itself is about 9.5" x 7.5") Frame has a depth of 2.5"Superb rendering of a Boat Waterfront Scene likely in Rockport, MassachusettsThe painting lacks any date reference which places it pre-1977, a time which the artist experienced a major life event and afterwards began to date his works.Framed in a wood frame. Painting in great condition. Frame has some wear (see photos)Mt. Stoffa is a listed artist (who passed away in 2001) and was the former President of the Rockport Art Association Mr. Stoffa's work is exhibited at the Canojoharie Art Museum, Michael Stoffa Gallery (Rockport, MA) and in collections throught the US and abroad. More about Mr. Stoffa is further below.About Michael StoffaBorn in Czechoslovakia, Michael Stoffa immigrated to America at the age of seven and began his studies at the Newark School of Fine and Industrial Arts, then at the Pennsylvania Academy, and the Arts Students League. As a well-known New Jersey teacher and a Cape Ann artist, Stoffa became known as a master artist of landscapes, seascapes, portraiture and still life. He held memberships in the Rockport Art Association, North Shore Arts Association, Artists Fellowship, Burr Artists, International Society of Marine Painters, and the Salmagundi Club.
