Up for bids is this piece of float or drift copper from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. It was scraped from the copper bearing rocks by the advancing glaciers and then was deposited in with the gravel and rock left by the glaciers as they receded northward over 10,000 years ago. These copper pieces are found in many shapes and sizes and can weigh from less than an ounce to several tons. This specimen is from Houghton County and measures about 9" by 6" by 1 1/2" at the longest, widest and thickest points and weighs 8 lbs. It is as found with just most of the loose dirt brushed and rinsed off. Great for study or display in your collection, or a great gift for that special rock/mineral collector.
