Antique Mid.1800's Pair of English Japonerie Papier Mache Lacquered Raised Plates Here is a nice pair of lacquered raised plates. The y are all hand painted with traditional costume scenes in Oriental taste, aka Japonerie or Chinoiserie Note the interesting curvy rims. Raised on plinth bases English in o rigin Made of black -lacquered papier mache (paper mache) Date back to the mid/second part of the 1800 's Tags from a previous gallery are still retained Measurements: Approx. 8" diameter (across); 1,5" high Condition: Fair/Good overall, please see photos below. Some small chips on the underside rims of both , as pictured. Didplay nicely!
