A very scarce example of the Chinese General staff sword dating from around mid 1800s era, of German manufacture with a good fighting blade of quill back style having reinforced tip area and spine, exhibiting scattered grained patina to overall original steel color finish, ricasso with a struck unit or serial number which is matching to the one on the scabbard's drag. Large half basket guard with a Chinese dragon emblem on the same spot where usually the Prussian eagle would be, all with heavy patina and fine pitting. Fully intact and solid with an ebony grip and original scabbard. Rare sword, of better quality than most Chinese weapons of the period and wold belong to a higher ranking officer on General staff. overall 38" blade 31".
