'Midnight' Obsidian Tumblestone Obsidian is a glassy, silica-rich volcanic rock with a hardness of 5-5.5. This very unusual variety of Obsidian is at first glance, black like most obsidians, but when viewed with a light behind it, the colour is more similar to a dark smokey quartz and it also has some banding within it. From Kazakhstan, it measures approx. 2.8 cms. Obsidian is said to have an affinity for the world of souls and can assist in the communication with spirits.
