you see a very RARE San Fernando Valley collectible...an actual MENU from the famed MIKE's PIZZA which was in ENCINO and PANORAMA City during the 1960s and was famous for their pizza, garlic tinged pizza dough dinner rolls (as delicious as any I've ever tasted!) and many more happy family dinners to families like the nearby Jackson Five! The Jacksons were regulars at Mike's Pizza in Encino and the man flipping the pizza pie in the kitchen and the sawdust on the floor still resonate as some of happiest childhood memories of the '60s and '70s. This was THE place to go after your Encino Little League game on nearby Hayvenhurst Ave. Now, owner Paul Cavallino with his cool silver hair and cherry red Ferrari parked outside would always greet guests at the Panorama City location, which was the first Mike's Pizza and one that I also went to family dinners at, as my Dad was in the Wholesale Liquor business and Mike's was a good client of his companies. I remember getting root beer in a pitcher t I was still going to Mike's Pizza in Panorama City into the early '90s until it closed quite suddenly due to a slowing of business once the nearby GM Auto Plant closed in Van Nuys. The Encino Mike's closed in around 1984 and is now a Maria's Kitchen, but the sign out front is still in the shape of the Mike's Pizza sign...they never changed that! This read more
