This is a military style Mills Cartridge Belt for 12 guage shot gun ammunition. It is made of tan fabric webbing with mostly brass and leather fittings. It was made by the Mills Woven Cartridge Belt Co. in Worcester, Mass. sometime in the late 1800's or early 1900's. This belt was used during WWI and was issued with a Winchester model 1897 shotgun. Many of these belts were also used for hunting/sporting pre and post WWI. This belt is unusual in that it uses a double buckle fastener. It is adjustable in length at both ends using patented brass fittings with hooks. It has loops for 30 rounds of ammo and 4 brass utility hooks hanging from one side. The shoulder strap is also adjustable with a brass buckle and attaches with hooked brass fittings. Considering it's age it is in Good to Very Good original condition. The leather straps for the buckle fastener are dried out and cracking, one has broken off and is missing, (pictures #3 & #9). There is enough remaining to make a pattern to fabricate a replacement if desired. There is a worn area on the shoulder strap, (picture #6). There is also some slight wear from use at the tops of a few of the cartridge loops, (picture #5). Note: The cartridge in the last picture is NOT included, it is for illustration purposes only. Markings are shown in pictures #7, #8 and #11. Buyers from outside
