RARE MINERAL Hoernesite As miniature, Huercal-Overa, Spain, Ex. FainbergHoernesite ~ Mg3(AsO4)2·8H2ODolomite ~ CaMg(CO3)2Cerro Minado Mines, Cuesta Alta, Huércal-Overa, Almiera Province, (Andalusia), SpainEx. Paul Lazar, #3801Ex. Arnold FainbergMeasures5.0 x 3.2 x 1.3 cm2 7/8" x 1 1/4" x 1/2"This is a fantastic miniature specimen with an excellent pedigree~! White to creamy white hued crystals of the rare Hoernesite (also spelled Hörnesite and Hornesite) formed over bubbly Dolomite . These are flattish prismatic transparent crystals. Magnification revealed these crystals formed in little spiky clusters. This is an exemplary specimen for several reasons, 1) this mineral is very difficult to find, 2) the crystals of this Arsenate are super, super rare, and 3) the pedigrees are impeccable~!!Hoernesite contains 14.73% Magnesium, 30.28% Arsenic plus Hydrogen and Oxygen. The Cerro Minado Mines are very old copper and cobalt mines that were operated in ancient times by the Phoenicians, and later by the Romans~!This specimen was in the collection of well-known scientist, Arnold Fainberg of Pennsylvania and later in the vast collection of Paul Lazar, also of Pennsylvania. Both of their labels are included with this specimen plus our yellow Nature's Window label that lists the minerals, location, chemical formula and pedigree.Note: Our labels read more
