This beautiful pendant was made from a Ming Dynasty shard. Shards are broken pieces of pottery and these were unearthed in an archeological dig of ancient pottery factories along the Yangtze River in China. The unusual porcelain shards are handpainted and date between 1368-1644 A.D.. Depicted on the shards are plants, trees, insects, animals, and less often, people. Chinese workers have fashioned the broken pieces of pottery into different sizes and shapes to be worn as pendants. This particular dragon pendant measures 1 1/2" x 1" and is in excellent condition and ready to wear on a chain, ribbon, or cord.
