This is absolutely one of the most intriguing Hires Root Beer bottles that I have ever seen. It looks just like the regular root beer bottles but in this tiny miniature size. The base of it has a small round molded hole in it which leads us to believe this bottle was actually used in some kind of display, where there was some type of base that the bottle fastened in to and stood up on. We’ve seen two of these bottles in 4 decades of collecting yet we still have no idea of how exactly there were used. Charles E. Hires was involved in several different ventures before he settled down to manufacturing Root Beer. There are 'Hires Cough Cure' bottles from when he was a patent medicine man, 'Hires Cologne' from when he was a perfumer, and then there is this bottle. One thing known is that he did end up in Philadelphia and form a large scale root beer manufacturing business, This bottle looks like it was used in conjunction with his Root Beer business as it has the famous 'Hires' trade mark name just like the regular full sized bottles have. Whatever it was, it wasn't very popular judging from the rareness of the bottle. We've seen just 2 of these in decades of looking , check it out! Please pay within 3 business days.
