For consideration is an outstanding work by one of the most collected working folk artists in the country! The 'Rooster' is carved from solid wood and is imposible to look at without smiling! Over the years there have been many artists that have formed similar twig roosters, using Minnie's form and style.....this is an original work by the originator her self! The sculpture measures 11 3/4" tall and 7 1/2" from beak to tail, is in mint perfect condition and is signed by the artist. Among the best known folk artists in the United States, Minnie Adkins acquired her reputation through skilled animal carving and by giving generous assistance to her neighbors in developing art careers of her own. For several years on the last Saturday of June, there has been a picnic, “A Day in the Country,” in Isonville at the Adkins ‘home. Well known artists and some new faces appear each year to introduce and sell their art. This event attracts friends, collectors, and art dealers.
