You are bidding on a brass belt buckle which shows Minnie Mouse and Mickey Mouse. After doing some research, there is real doubt whether this buckle is an "authorized" Disney product. As a result, this item is being sold "As Is." My research also indicates that regardless of whether it is real or a fake from the 1970s, the belt buckle is still quite collectible. Additional--unverified--information is shown below: D. W. of New Jersey, a specialist in vintage character collectibles, especially those with early images of Disney's Mickey and Minnie, says this buckle is "the world's most famous Disney fake-a-total-fantasy item." As a very famous fake, it is probably worth $100 to $125. Just to be sure, we asked for a second opinion from T. H. of Hake's Americana & Collectibles Auction in York, PA, which handles Disneyana. Hake added these buckles were made in England in the late 1960s and '70s by a talented forger named John Fairchild, who sold them for hundreds of dollars until U.S. Customs caught up with him. Fairchild even made elaborate efforts to document these buckles by writing a book about them under the pseudonym Percy Siebart.
