DESCRIPTION: Up for bid is an American Flyer "Boston and Maine" Illuminated Bay Window Caboose (manufactured by Lionel) as part of Lionel's line of rolling stock for 1983. This car is part of the Boston and Maine "Historic American Railroad #2" train set. Item is Mint and comes in its original factory box. ABOUT THIS ITEM: This item was originally purchased for my personal collection. I purchased it back in the mid-1980s. It has remained in its original factory box since the time of my original purchase. INCLUDES: 4-9402 Boston and Maine Bay Window Caboose features illuminated interior and operating die-cast, knuckle couplers. Car is Mint and comes in its original factory box. It is my understanding that Lionel did not ship these early pieces of rolling stock in plastic bags. I packaged the car in a new plastic bag to help prevent any shipping damage. PLEASE NOTE: The early production cabooses (including the 4-9402) fit snugly in Lionel's somewhat narrow early production factory boxes. As a result, a number fo the "rivets" on both sides of the bay windows show the slight signs of minor box rubbing. This is a common occurence with this specific car. While it is hard to notice, it is worth noting. Also worth noting is that o n one side of the bay window there is a rub mark and some sort of slight discoloration on the top horizontal riveted brace of the bay window. Again it is not very noticable to the eye. Please review the closeup photo (photo 11) above. Finally, the factory box for the caboose shows some signs of water staining which can be seen in photo 12. While I have identified a number of things to consider and I have priced the item accordingly, I still believe this is a nice piece and is offered to you at a very reasonable price. This item is considered a STANDARD sized item. If you purchase other items that are identified in their listings as STANDARD SIZED (such as standard sized box cars, standard sized reefers, standard sized tank cars, standard sized hoppers, standard sized gondolas, standard sized flat cars, standard sized cabooses. Etc.) I will only charge $3.00 shipping for each ADDITIONAL STANDARD SIZED item when purchased and shipped at the same time. My multiple item shipping discount applies only to items identified as “STANDARD SIZED” in their listings. Here is how it works.
