RARE Minton Green & Gold Gilded Ovington Brothers Cup & Saucer Sets (6)Up for auction is this set of six gorgeous cup and saucer sets. These were manufactured by Minton in England for Ovington Brothers of the United States. For those unfamiliar with the name, Ovington Brothers were importers of high quality china and crystal in the late 1800's to early 1900's. They had stores in Brooklyn as well as Manhattan and were considered among the elite of the glass and porcelain world. Many of the items they imported were made especially for them and carried their mark. This pair of cup and saucer sets is one such example. These were made using Minton's H3046 mold and then decorated with the green band for Ovington's. Along with the familiar "Minton" mark is stamped "Ovington Brothers". Each piece is decorated with a beautiful green band accented by a of thick gilded gold. The cups measures 4" across the rim and stands 2" high. The saucers are 5-5/8" in diameter. I believe these to be rare as I have been unable to locate any like them in this color after an extensive search on the web.The CONDITION of these cup and saucer sets is EXCELLENT. They appear to have NEVER been used and are free of any chips, cracks, flakes or loss to decoration.
