For auction with a low reserve is an original L. & J.G. Stickley "Morris" chair in Mission or Art and Crafts style. The chair has original dark oak finish and is in very good condition for its age. T are minor bumps and bruises but the main structural pieces are in excellent condition although minor re-gluing could be considered. The bottom pillow shows wear along the front surface, but this side can be placed downward. The back pillow has a large ink stain (also on the back wood frame) but when turned to the back, it is presentable. All-in-all the pillows show well and would not have to be replaced. On the front vertical arm supports the small wood shield-shaped cartouches are broken near the top (see photo). Since the broken parts are near the bottom of the arm rest, this damage is not pronounced (also probably easily fixed by a good wood worker). The front feet are ball feet. The Morris chair has only two positions, upright or one lounging position. The chair is 36" high at the back and 21" high at the arm rests. It is 25" wide. At the upright position it is 33" long; in the lounging position it is 43" long. On the front, bottom structural element is a black painted copper tag "THE WORK OF L. & J.G. STICKLEY." This is a wonderful piece in extremely good condition. Shipping will be by arrangement with the winning bidder. I think read more
